Privacy

This page explains what Stephen Ireland does with personal information. The short version: very little.

The site does not use analytics, advertising trackers, tracking pixels or ad networks. If someone leaves a comment, WordPress keeps the name, email address, IP address and comment, and may show a Gravatar picture (Gravatar is run by Automattic). A commenter can choose to have their name and email remembered in a cookie.

Some pages show pictures and posts from X (Twitter), and may include content from Facebook, Bluesky or YouTube; those services can see the visitor's IP address and may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. New articles are shared to the site's own social media pages; no visitor data is passed to them.

The site itself only sets cookies for people who leave a comment or log in to manage the site.

Visitors in the UK and EU can ask what personal data is held about them, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, using the contact page. They can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
